[06:04:31] <bschnei> Antiz: nudging on revisiting AUR policy. When building on aarch64, libcamera depends on libpisp (https://github.com/raspberrypi/libpisp) which does build on x86_64 but obviously is not meant to be installed on an x86_64 system.

[18:47:40] <yuvadm> bschnei: how was the config.aarch64 in your repo initialized?
[18:48:35] <bschnei> yuvadm: you'll find some notes on that here: https://gitlab.archlinux.org
[18:48:37] <phrik> Title: Draft: aarch64 support (!9) · Merge requests · Arch Linux / Packaging / Packages / linux · GitLab (at gitlab.archlinux.org)
[18:49:38] <bschnei> We've since enabled many features that are aarch64-specific, but I wanted "common" features to be the same as the Arch kernel for x86_64.
[18:49:51] <Antiz> bschnei: Sorry for the late response. I don't think we've yet revised the policy (officially that is), as far as I know at least. Although, if it *builds* on x86_64, I guess that's good enough for now :)
[18:51:51] <bschnei> No worries! Is it possible to look into that policy? Current policy means the source for non-x64 packages winds up everywere besides Arch community (e.g. github) so it seems fitting with the spirit of the Ports RFC of keeping/bringing that expertise within the Arch ecosystem (so to speak).
[18:53:20] <bschnei> In the interim, if there are no issues with submitting a package to the AUR that contains x86_64 in the arch() array but would serve no purpose on an x64 device, then we could submit libpisp.
[18:54:05] <bschnei> Just didn't want to get _too_ cute without checking in on the topic :)
[18:54:07] <yuvadm> bschnei: I'd like to get Odroid C4 support for the aarch64 kernel, I have plenty of those devices to test on, and it seems to be well supported in mainline. Would you accept a patch that adds some configs for it?
[18:54:28] <bschnei> absolutely!
[18:54:40] <Antiz> bschnei: Yep, I'd love that we revise the policy actually. Given our current general interest for multi-arch support and the ongoing community efforts in that regard, it makes no sens to make things hard by being as strict as we currently are on that front IMO
[18:55:10] <Antiz> I'm a bit busy at the moment but I can eventually send a mail to people as a proposal I guess.
[18:55:39] <Antiz> Although, IIRC bertptrs was also interested in refining AUR submission policy (globally).
[18:56:03] <Antiz> bertptrs: Not sure if you started looking at it yet?
[18:56:30] <Antiz> Otherwise, I'll find the time to send a mail about that specific point as a proposal.
[18:57:00] <bschnei> Many thanks!!!
[18:58:45] <Antiz> np :)
